Melodie practises Cayman Islands, BVI and Bermuda law and specialises in corporate and commercial disputes including shareholders disputes, investment funds disputes, fraud claims, directors duties and all forms of dispute resolution.
Melodie also advises on cross-border insolvency and restructuring related matters.
Melodie has extensive experience working with Chinese clients, and has participated on a number of complex and high value disputes, including matters relating to requisition and convening of company meetings of privately owned and listed offshore companies, and appointment and removal of directors and officers, matters relating to breach of duty and trust disputes, and matters relating to contractual disputes.
Melodie also has experience acting for companies in financial distress, including advising on the relevant duties applicable to directors and the appointment of light touch provisional liquidators to assist on the process. Melodie also has acted for creditors and investors regarding enforcement actions or on matters relating to a restructuring or liquidation of offshore entities.
Melodie joined Walkers in December 2019 and is a member of our Insolvency, Restructuring & Dispute Resolution Group. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Experience and recent work
Prior to joining Walkers, Melodie also worked for another offshore law firm in Hong Kong.
Prior to that, Melodie worked for a highly regarded Australian law firm where she practised as a dispute resolution lawyer on commercial litigation and insolvency matters, particularly in relation to shareholder and directors' disputes, derivative actions, contractual disputes and breach of fiduciary duties. In Australia, Melodie has broad experience working with Chinese corporate clients.
