He specialises in complex, high-value and international commercial disputes, and corporate restructuring and insolvency matters.
Robert advises on the laws of the Cayman Islands, the BVI and Bermuda; he has acted for clients on matters before the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the BVI Commercial Court, the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Bermuda, and on appeals to the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
He has particular expertise in shareholder disputes, often involving allegations of unfair prejudice, minority oppression, breach of directors' duties and/or misappropriation of company assets. He regularly advises on civil fraud and asset recovery claims, including the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in offshore jurisdictions. Robert is also frequently asked to advise clients on taking and enforcing security, debt recovery, board disputes and contentious valuation issues.
Robert has recently acted on a number of matters pertaining to digital assets. He also has extensive experience of (re)insurance-related disputes, having acted on matters involving insurance-linked securities in Bermuda, in addition to representing clients in a number of complex, large-loss coverage disputes in London.
