She represents clients on a variety of matters including shareholder disputes, fund related disputes and contentious and non-contentious cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters and works closely with onshore counsel and insolvency practitioners. She also represents target companies, special committees of directors and dissenting shareholders in relation to cases involving take-privates (by way of mergers) by offshore entities.
Prior to joining Walkers, Michaela practised as an insolvency and dispute resolution specialist in another offshore law firm in Hong Kong, where she provided advice and representation with respect to Bermuda, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law on a broad range of matters including shareholder disputes, restructurings by way of Schemes of Arrangement, insolvencies and general corporate governance issues.
Michaela began her career at Clayton Utz in Sydney, which is a leading independent law firm in Australia. She practised as a general commercial litigation lawyer and acted for government departments, major financial institutions and ASX listed companies on a wide range of disputes.
