Matthew Cowman is the Managing Partner of Walkers' BVI office and is a member of the firm's Corporate, Finance & Funds Group. He has 20 years' experience as an international commercial lawyer, having worked in the British Virgin Islands, London and Australia.
Matthew advises clients in banking and finance transactions, acting for lenders and borrowers in a range of matters including acquisition finance, real estate finance and general corporate finance. He also acts for clients in a range of corporate transactions, such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganisations.
Prior to joining Walkers, Matthew worked in the Banking and Finance departments at SJ Berwin in London and at Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Australia. He also has extensive in-house experience, having worked as Deputy General Counsel (Australia & New Zealand) at GE Capital and as General Manager, Group Legal & Governance at Australian Unity.
