Walkers' cross-jurisdictional fintech team have contributed to aosphere's "Rulefinder Crypto Assets Guide" to provide their input on the laws of Jersey, Cayman Islands, BVI, and Bermuda, as well as providing Irish law input to aosphere’s "Crypto Assets – MiCA Snapshot".
Walkers’ specialist Fintech team in Jersey was led by partner Dilmun Leach, who commented:
"We're thrilled to have contributed to aosphere’s Rulefinder Crypto Assets Guide and MiCA Snapshot. This project further showcases Walkers' market-leading expertise in the fintech and digital assets space across multiple jurisdictions. Earlier this year, Walkers' Fintech team advised on Jersey’s first tokenisation platform, and is currently assisting multiple clients in relation to tokenisation projects across the jurisdictions in which we practise.”
Dilmun was supported by senior counsel Sarah Townsend and associate Amman Bulchandani.
The BVI, Bermuda and Cayman Islands contribution to the Rulefinder Crypto Assets Guide was led by Sara Hall (a partner in Walkers’ London office, advising on BVI, Bermuda and Cayman Law and specialising in the regulation of digital assets). Partner Natalie Neto and Senior Counsel Ben Twidle contributed to the Bermuda chapter. Sara commented:
"We are delighted to have been chosen by aosphere as it recognises Walkers' deep financial services expertise, and confirms Walkers is the go-to law firm in this innovative and dynamic field of regulation."
The MiCA Snapshot guide for Ireland was prepared by Walkers’ partners Niall Esler and Shane Martin and assisted by Laura Whitson. With MiCA applying to crypto-asset service providers across the EU from 29 December 2024, the aosphere Rulefinder on this topic is timely. In Ireland, Walkers' Fintech team is working with firms in preparing to seek authorisation once the application process is open.
The development of the aosphere Rulefinder Crypto Assets service has been driven by Penny Blair, Co-Head of FinReg at aosphere, who commented:
“It has been an absolute pleasure working with Walkers on their contributions for Jersey, BVI, Bermuda, Cayman and Ireland. Our subscribers depend on us to identify top firms and build collaborative relationships in order to be able to obtain the detailed, practical jurisdiction-specific information that underpins our curated content. We have valued Walkers’ expertise in this area and also found every member of their team to be very responsive and commercial in their approach.”
The aosphere Rulefinder Crypto Assets product now covers 30 jurisdictions as well as a separate EU report featuring analysis on the MiCA regime. Together with Co-Head of FinReg Jenny Ljunghammar, the team from aosphere that has worked on building and curating the content have included John Dyson, Sarah-Jane Elsner, Sharon Gowdy, Emily Hillson, Serena McMullen and Kate Pang.
Established in 2002, aosphere delivers high quality online legal risk management products which help subscribers operate more efficiently.
