Iain advises on contentious commercial work, focusing on international insolvency and fraud-related litigation.
As a member of our Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Group, he has extensive experience of complex, high-value cross-border disputes and proceedings. Iain regularly acts for clients based in North America, China and East Asia.
Iain has particular expertise in helping clients with freezing orders and other urgent injunctive relief, often in foreign Court and arbitration proceedings. He is an experienced advocate and has appeared in the British Virgin Islands Commercial Court (often as lead advocate), the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Court of Appeal and the Privy Council.

Experience and recent work
Before joining Walkers, Iain worked in the Dispute Resolution team at Hogan Lovells where he developed significant experience in contentious insolvency-related matters. He also worked alongside us on the long-running Alfa Telecom v Cukurova litigation in the British Virgin Islands Commercial Court.
Iain has worked on some of the most high-profile disputes to come before the English courts, including for the Kazakh Bank BTA on their ground-breaking multi-billion dollar dispute in multiple jurisdictions (including the British Virgin Islands) – this is thought to be the largest fraud claim ever to come before the English Commercial Court.
