Walkers' Jersey team advises on abrdn Capital acquisition

Walkers have advised LGT Group on the acquisition of abrdn Capital, abrdn plc's discretionary fund management business.

The Walkers team advised on the Jersey and Guernsey law elements of the £140 million deal, working with lead counsel White & Case.

LGT Group is one of the world’s leading private banks, wholly owned by the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. As part of the acquisition, LGT acquires approximately 140 employees and £6.1 billion in assets under administration.

The acquisition, amongst other things, significantly strengthens LGT Group's current platform in Jersey.

Group Partner Dilmun Leach and senior counsel Tatiana Collins led the Jersey Investment Funds & Corporate team on the deal, with support from senior associates Luke Steele and Ruth Donnellan and associate Marco Carossa.

Walkers' Guernsey Managing Partner Matt Sanders, senior counsel Jessica Robinson and associate Angela Proctor advised on the Guernsey regulatory law elements, and Walkers' Jersey partner Daniel Read and associate Jenny Brunton advised on Jersey employment law matters.

Dilmun said: "We are delighted to have supported LGT on this strategic acquisition, and to offer a collaborative solution covering the Jersey and Guernsey law elements of the transaction in partnership with White & Case."
