Walkers has been named a finalist in the Legal Services category of the European Captive Review Awards marking excellence in services to the captive insurance market across Europe.

The Walkers Insurance team – spanning the key insurance jurisdictions of Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and Ireland – is named alongside Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, HFW and Wilhelm as a finalist in the awards, which take place in Luxembourg on 8 November.

The Walkers team won the award in 2021, the first time that legal service providers had been recognised at the long-running European Captive Review Awards.

Walkers global insurance team includes partners Sarah Demerling and Peter Dunlop (Bermuda), Tony de Quintal and Philip Paschalides (Cayman) and Noeleen Ruddy (Ireland), and Kate and senior counsel Jessica Robinson in Guernsey.

The awards recognise "innovators, creative minds and customer service pros who have outperformed their competitors and demonstrated the highest levels of excellence over the past 12 months" and are judged by a panel of independent external experts.

Walkers Partner Kate Storey – who was last week named a Leading Individual in Walkers' top-tier Guernsey Insurance practice by Legal 500 – said that the team was delighted to be shortlisted again.

"We are delighted to be recognised again by the judges at the European Captive Review Awards 2022 and we look forward to the event – at Walkers, we regularly receive feedback that our offering as legal advisers to the insurance sector is unique in that we cover Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and Ireland – four key jurisdictions for insurance globally," she said.

"We continue to invest in and develop our insurance offering, and in the last 12 months we have seen instructions from an increasingly diverse set of clients touching on every part of our global organisation in Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East, as well as US clients."
