James O'Doherty is based in Walkers' Ireland office where he is Of Counsel in the Regulatory group.
James advises regulated entities including credit institutions, insurers and reinsurers, investment firms, asset managers and payment service providers on Irish and EU financial regulation.
James provides practical assistance to boards of directors, senior management and in-house counsel in relation to regulatory change. His experience includes advising on regulatory perimeter analysis, capital requirements, fitness and probity, business continuity and resilience, conduct of business requirements, sanctions, outsourcing, distribution and passporting.
James assists clients applying for authorisations, expansion of authorisations, qualifying holding applications and group restructuring projects. He has extensive experience assisting client in communicating with regulators including advocating for clients directly with regulators, preparing for supervisory inspections, preparing for fitness and probity interviews and responding to remediation exercises and enforcement actions.
