Our Cayman Charity Committee is thrilled to announce that, through a year-long salary pledge, employees in the Cayman office have now collectively raised funds for six local charities. The organisations were thoughtfully selected by employees themselves, allowing them to support causes they are passionate about and make a direct impact in the community.
Employees volunteered a portion of their salaries each month throughout 2024 to be donated at the start of 2025 to the chosen charities.
Donations for 2024 organisations were presented during an internal event hosted at the Walkers Cayman office. Global Managing Partner Ingrid Pierce and Office Managing Partner Rob Jackson presented each organisation with a donation on behalf of staff.
The 2024 beneficiaries of the Walkers employee giving initiative were:
Ingrid shared, "I am deeply moved by our colleagues' commitment to giving back, year after year. Their choice to donate part of their salaries is a testament to the values we hold dear – supporting one another and uplifting the community we call home. The efforts taking place by each of these charities is incredibly vital work we are honoured to further."
Rob commented, "It fills me with pride to know that our people's generosity extends beyond the workplace. Their decision to donate a portion of their earnings towards local charities speaks to their integrity and their commitment in bettering Cayman for all. Each of these organisations are very deserving, we are happy to play a small role in furthering their causes."
Samantha Cooper of the Cayman Islands Humane Society stated, " We are deeply grateful to the employees of Walkers for their generous employee giving donation to the Cayman Islands Humane Society. This meaningful contribution will help us continue our mission to care for and find loving homes for animals in need. It’s inspiring to see local businesses and their teams making a positive impact in our community."
Cayman Islands Cancer Society representative, Shorline Blanchard shared “We would like to express our gratitude to Walkers employees for their generous donation to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. These funds will support our education and prevention programs aimed at raising awareness about cancer and providing the community with information on how to prevent it. Additionally, we assist cancer patients in greatest financial need by providing direct financial aid and assistance on a case-by-case basis. This support may cover expenses such as surgeries, treatments, airfare, accommodations, food, and utilities.”
Sophie Munden of Jasmine Hospice Care commented “At Jasmine, we rely on the generosity of our community to fund essential palliative care services that ensure everyone facing a serious illness has the support they need. Every day, we witness the profound impact of the care our doctors, nurses, and caregivers provide—not just on our patients, but also on their families, friends, and the wider community. We are deeply grateful to Walkers for their ongoing support, which allows us to continue this critical work totally free of charge for anyone who may need it.”
Cayman Islands Crisis Centre representative, Ania Milanowska expressed “We are very grateful to the Walkers employee-funded community giving initiative for their donation. Thank you for your unwavering support and believing in our mission. Together, with your contribution we can continue to empower victims of domestic abuse in the Cayman Islands.”
