Leonie is an international regulatory specialist, with over 16 years’ experience advising clients globally on regulatory compliance, licensing applications, complex investigations, transaction diligence and compliance frameworks. Leonie advises banks, investment businesses, (re)insurers and digital asset businesses.
As a contentious and non-contentious regulatory specialist, Leonie has a complete view of regulatory laws and requirements, how things go wrong, how to work with regulators and how to build robust compliance frameworks.
Leonie assists clients to become licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, including under the Insurance Act, Digital Asset Business Act and Investment Business Act. Leonie holds an SPT Advanced certificate from the BMA, allowing licence applications to be fast passed through the AML/ATF approval process.
Leonie advises on complex AML/ATF and sanctions issues, especially in areas requiring the resolution of conflicting international obligations. She has designed numerous AML/ATF risk controls.
Leonie is also a data privacy specialist, advising on data privacy compliance under the Personal Information Protection Act, including scope, cross-border data transfer issues and policy and privacy notice design.
Leonie assists clients in responding to cyber security attacks, advising on incident response, ransom demands and regulator notification requirements.
