Simone Burnett Lanauze is a senior associate in the Regulatory & Risk Advisory Group at Walkers' Singapore office.

Simone is a member of Walkers' global regulatory risk and advisory practice. Having worked in private practice, as well as in-house at major banks in Asia Pacific and a financial markets regulator, she has over 9 years' experience as a financial services regulation specialist.

Simone advises on a broad range of regulatory matters, including beneficial ownership, corporate governance and internal controls, CRS and FATCA, data protection, economic substance, financial crime prevention (including anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, counter-proliferation financing and international sanctions), licensing and registration applications, market conduct, perimeter advice and virtual assets. Her clients include financial institutions such as banks, investment funds, managers and advisers.

In addition to advisory work, Simone assists clients with regulatory compliance, including filing and reporting, compliance frameworks, regulatory audits, reviews and inspections. Simone interacts with regulators and is involved with financial services industry bodies.

Experience and recent work

Prior to joining Walkers, Simone worked in the global financial markets practice of a major international law firm in Singapore. She has over 9 years' experience as a specialist financial regulatory services lawyer, having worked in private practice, at major banks in Singapore and New Zealand, and at a financial markets regulator. She is also experienced in contentious regulatory matters having advised on regulatory investigations, professional and market misconduct issues, as well as civil and criminal enforcement outcomes. Simone has a particular focus on FinTech, as well as legal and regulatory technology solutions.
